CFP Linguaculture

LINGUACULTURE, a peer-reviewed academic journal of the Centre for (Inter)cultural and (Inter)lingual Research of Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, Romania, welcomes contributions in literary studies, literary and critical theory, theatre and film studies, linguistics, translation studies, cultural studies, and TEFL, as well as book reviews for its next issue to be published in December 2021.

Contributions are expected by 30 September, 2021, and they should not have been published or considered for publication elsewhere. All submissions will go through a peer review process and notification of acceptance will be sent by 15 November, 2021.

The attached CFP contains more guidelines for authors.

CFP for the Conference Synergies in Communication

Topic of the Current Edition: The 9th edition of the conference will be dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the European Day of Languages and will be included in the EDL data base of the Council of Europe and the European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML/CELV).

Short Description: The Department of Modern Languages and Business Communication of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE), Romania, is organizing the 9 th annual international conference Synergies in Communication (SiC 2021), to be held online on 28-29 October 2021. The event will be organized under the auspices of the Faculty of International Business and Economics in partnership with Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), University of Hyogo, University of Zaragoza, Quest Romania, PROSPER-ASE Language Centre and The Romanian Society for English and American Studies (RSEAS), a member of The European Society for the Study of English (ESSE). The conference will be dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the European Day of Languages and will be included in the EDL data base of the Council of Europe and the European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML/CELV).

The sections of the Conference are: Synergies in Business Communication; Education and Research, Interdependences: Academic and Digital Literacies in the New Education and Research Environment. Revisiting Quality in Higher Education; Education for Active Citizenship through Gender Studies and (Inter)Cultural Communication; East and West within Interdisciplinary Frames.

CFP for Studia Universitatis Babeș-Bolyai Philologia

Special Issue 2/2022 – Theorizing Literary Animals
Guest editor: Dr. Ema Vyroubalova, Trinity College Dublin

This special issue seeks essays in English that engage with as well as challenge existing work in animal studies in relation to literary texts and/or theories from across different genres, historical periods, and linguistic and national traditions. Topics for possible essays include the following:

  • relationship between animal studies and literary theory and/or history
  • theorizing human-animal hybridities and continuities in literary texts
  • alternatives to anthropocentrism and/or anthropomorphism in literary criticism and theory
  • intersectionality and animal studies
  • triangulating between animal studies, ecocriticism and literary theory/studies
  • animals and translation theory
  • impact of the animal rights movement on literature
  • pedagogical approaches to combining animal and literary studies

Timeline:

  • 1 November 2021 – proposal submission deadline (200-word abstract, 7 keywords, 5 theoretical references, 150-word author’s bio-note)
  • 15 November 2021 – notification about acceptance

The Journal of Linguistic and Intercultural Education – JoLIE is the yearly
publication of the Centre for Research and Innovation in Linguistic Education
(CIEL)
. Affiliated with “1 Decembrie 1918” University of Alba Iulia, Romania,
situated in Central Europe, at the crossroads between Romance Slavic, German and
Hungar ian cultures and languages , JoLIE editors understand linguistic and
intercultural education as paramount to constructing a global citizenship of
culturally competent and aware individuals who display cultural insights and a
sense of belonging to the humanity at large.

The Journal of Linguistic and Intercultural Education is concerned with all
aspects pertaining to linguistic and intercultural education today. Preference is given
to articles which bring a significant contribution to current debate in language
education policies, instruments and end products, bi and plurilingualism, language
learning/teaching and teacher education, as well as in intercultural and cross
cultural awareness. The language of submission and publication is English.
