Theme presentation
This thematic issue deals with travel and encounters between East and West, with a focus on the mobility and intercultural exchanges that are constitutive of European heritage. Contributions are invited in the fields of literature, language, cultural and translation studies addressing the circulation of people, ideas and trends across the European continent. Papers that critically address the literary, artistic and cultural representations of East-West encounters are particularly welcome. Western and Eastern itineraries and accounts are equally sought, with a view to weaving Orientalist, Occidentalist and Mitteleuropean discourses into a multi-layered narrative of European mobility.
